Rohit Sharma – 4000 runs in test cricket – In a significant achievement for Team India in Test cricket, captain Rohit Sharma crossed the 4000-run mark during the ongoing fourth Test against England on Day 3. The veteran opener became the 17th Indian player to achieve this milestone, showcasing his prowess in the longest format of the game.

The match, held at the Jharkhand Cricket Association complex in Ranchi, saw Rohit achieving the feat in the second innings as India chased a target of 192 runs. With an unbeaten score of 24 at stumps on Day 3, Rohit Sharma has amassed a total of 4003 runs and aims to contribute further, steering his team towards victory in the fourth Test and potentially securing the series with one more match to be played in Dharamsala.

Rohit Sharma is now eyeing the opportunity to surpass Gautam Gambhir’s Test run tally for India, with the left-hander having accumulated 4154 runs in 58 Test matches. Given Rohit’s current form and performance in the ongoing series against England, it wouldn’t be surprising if he overtakes Gambhir in the upcoming matches. The final game of the series is scheduled in Dharamsala, starting from 7th March.

Sachin Tendulkar holds the top spot as India’s leading run-scorer in Tests with an impressive 15921 runs. Following him are head coach Rahul Dravid with 13265 runs, and the list includes legendary names like Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Cheteshwar Pujara, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Gundappa Viswanath, Kapil Dev, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Mohinder Amarnath, Gautam Gambhir, and Rohit Sharma in that order.

In addition to crossing the 4000-run mark in Test cricket, Rohit Sharma achieved a noteworthy milestone by reaching 1000 runs against England in the longest format of the game. This accomplishment places him among the elite group that includes Virat Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rahul Dravid. Rohit currently boasts 1013 runs against England, achieving this feat in his 13th Test match against the Three Lions. Following his outstanding century in the previous game in Rajkot, the batsman is eager to contribute further to his tally and aid his team in securing victories.

Virat Kohli, positioned alongside Rohit on the list, has amassed 1991 runs in 28 Tests against England. Tendulkar and Gavaskar lead the chart with over 2000 runs each, with Tendulkar being the highest run-scorer at 2535 runs in 32 Tests, followed by Gavaskar’s 2483 runs in 38 matches. Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara also precede Rohit Sharma in this distinguished list of batsmen.
