BCCI Test Match Fees

BCCI Test Match Fees: The BCCI is intensifying its efforts to emphasize the significance of red-ball cricket among players. To address the issue of players prioritizing leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) over domestic cricket, the Indian board has been actively instructing players to participate in domestic matches during their non-national team commitments.

This proactive approach comes in response to instances where players like Ishan Kishan, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Chahar opted to skip Ranji Trophy matches for their state teams, aiming to conserve energy for the forthcoming IPL season. In a recent directive, the BCCI has now mandated players to actively engage in domestic cricket.

There are also indications that the board may enforce a requirement for players to participate in a minimum number of Ranji Trophy games to maintain eligibility for the IPL and its auction.

As part of its recent initiatives, the BCCI is said to be contemplating an increase in match fees for Test matches, underscoring a heightened value for the longest format of the game. The decision to enhance salaries comes in the wake of Ishan Kishan’s choice to disregard the directives from selectors and team management, opting not to participate in domestic cricket. This move is seen as a response to encourage players to prioritize Test cricket. According to a report in the Indian Express, the board is considering this salary hike.

As per a source cited by the news outlet, there is a proposal to reward players with an additional incentive if they participate in all Test series throughout a calendar year, over and above their annual retainer contract. The aim is to encourage greater involvement in red-ball cricket, providing an extra perk for those committed to playing Test matches.

The implementation of the salary hike is expected to take place after the upcoming IPL season. The board is also in the process of developing an additional bonus structure for players who complete all Test series in a season. Currently, players receive Rs 15 lakh for each Test match, Rs 6 lakh for ODIs, and Rs 3 lakh for T20 internationals.

In a related development, there are reports suggesting that Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer may face significant consequences for not participating in Ranji Trophy games. According to the report, both players could potentially lose their central contracts as a penalty for disregarding the team management’s directives.
