Eisenhower Park Cricket Stadium

New Stadium Rises in Five Months

  • A brand new, 34,000-seat stadium has been built at Eisenhower Park in New York in just five months.
  • This is the first modular stadium ever used in international cricket.
  • The stadium is located 25 miles east of New York City and was inaugurated by Usain Bolt, a World Cup ambassador.

Test Events and Match Schedule

  • The ICC will conduct test events before the T20 World Cup which starts on June 1st in the West Indies and USA.
  • New York will host eight of the 16 matches played in the USA, with Dallas and Texas hosting four each.
  • The first official match at Eisenhower Park will be a warm-up game between Bangladesh and India on June 1st.
  • During the main tournament, India will play three games in New York, including a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on June 9th.

Logistical Feat: Drop-In Pitches and Rapid Construction

  • Building a stadium in such a short time frame was a major undertaking for the ICC.
  • One of the biggest challenges was preparing and transporting drop-in pitches from Florida to New York.
  • Ten drop-in pitches were installed in the main square, with an additional six for practice areas.
  • Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions prepared the pitches, while LandTek Group built the outfield.

Eisenhower Park – From Park Land to World-Class Stadium

  • The project transformed a former park area into a professional cricket stadium.
  • Chris Tetley, ICC’s head of events, emphasized the impressive transformation.

Community Events and Ticket Availability

  • “Community cricket events” will be held in the last two weeks of May to test operations and infrastructure.
  • While tickets for the India Vs Pakistan match are in high demand, there are still “limited opportunities” to purchase tickets for all eight matches in New York.
