Ishan Kishan - DY Patil tournament

Ishan Kishan DY Patil tournament – The prolonged anticipation for Ishan Kishan’s return to cricket has finally concluded. The wicketkeeper-batsman made his comeback on Tuesday (February 27) while representing RBI in their match against Route Mobile Limited at the DY Patil University Grounds in Navi Mumbai.

Ishan Kishan assumed the wicketkeeping duties for RBI, who were instructed to field first in the match. Alongside players such as Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishra, Ankit Rajpoot, Dhruv Shorey, and Riyan Parag, he appears to be gearing up for the IPL 2024.

Having been inactive for over three months, Ishan Kishan’s last appearance was in the T20I series against Australia following the ICC World Cup 2023. Although he was part of the Indian team for the South Africa T20Is, he did not get a chance to play as Jitesh Sharma was preferred in the team. # Ishan Kishan DY Patil tournament

Ishan Kishan had initially been included in the Test series against South Africa, but he withdrew from the series, citing personal reasons. Following this decision, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been inactive, and there remains uncertainty regarding his involvement with the Indian team across all formats.

The Indian team management, particularly head coach Rahul Dravid, advised Ishan Kishan to participate in competitive cricket before making a return to the national team. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman did not comply with the suggestion and chose not to participate in the Ranji Trophy for his state team. Instead, he was observed preparing for the IPL alongside the Pandya brothers. # Ishan Kishan DY Patil tournament

Rahul Dravid addressed the situation, stating, “There is a pathway for everyone; we don’t rule out anyone. I don’t want to dwell on the Ishan Kishan matter too much. He had requested a break, and we were content to grant him that break. Whenever he feels ready, he doesn’t necessarily have to play domestic cricket; the decision is his. We are not imposing anything on him, and we are staying in touch with him.”

Despite BCCI secretary Jay Shah issuing a strong caution to contracted and India A cricketers against abstaining from the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Ishan Kishan chose not to participate in Jharkhand’s matches. The cricket board is reportedly displeased with his decision. # Ishan Kishan DY Patil tournament

Reports have surfaced indicating that BCCI is considering terminating Ishan Kishan’s national contract. Captain Rohit Sharma indirectly hinted, suggesting that individuals lacking the desire to play Test cricket won’t be selected for the team.

Ishan Kishan is set to make his presence felt in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, where he is anticipated to play a vital role for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the top order. This tournament holds significant importance for the wicketkeeper-batsman as he aims to make a comeback into the Indian team.
