Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav shine in India vs England Test

On the third day of the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi, Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the heroes with the bat and ball respectively. India found themselves in a precarious position at 177 for 7 in response to England’s first-innings total of 353. However, the partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav, worth 76 runs for the eighth wicket, steered the hosts out of trouble. Kuldeep Yadav contributed with the bat, scoring 28 before departing, while Dhruv Jurel notched up his maiden Test fifty, falling just 10 runs short of a century.

Following their crucial partnership, Kuldeep Yadav showcased his bowling prowess, orchestrating a stunning spell that led to India dismissing England for a modest total of 145. His impressive figures of 4 for 22 included the dismissals of Zak Crawley, Ben Stokes, Tom Hartley, and Ollie Robinson. This stellar performance from Yadav played a pivotal role in putting India in a commanding position in the Test match.

Following the conclusion of the day’s play, Kuldeep Yadav and Dhruv Jurel demonstrated their strong off-field camaraderie. In a video shared by the BCCI, the pair shared insights about the game and reflected on their performances during the third day of the Test.

Kuldeep Yadav acknowledged Dhruv Jurel’s dedication of his fifty to his father, who serves in the Army. Expressing confidence in Jurel’s composure, Yadav remarked, “I had a lot of belief in him from our previous games together, and I know his batting style.”

While Yadav anticipated Jurel reaching a century, he praised the significance of the batsman’s valuable knock for the team, expressing optimism about a maiden hundred in upcoming matches.

Discussing his own bowling performance, the left-arm spinner expressed satisfaction, stating, “Picking up four crucial wickets gives you hope for a five-wicket haul. I’m content with the importance of those four wickets.”

In response, Dhruv Jurel emphasized the comfort of batting alongside his Uttar Pradesh teammate, Yadav. Downplaying personal milestones, Jurel focused on contributing to the team’s benefit, emphasizing his commitment to winning the series in his debut for India.
