Litton Das Dropped

Litton Das Dropped – The Bangladesh Cricket Team has omitted senior batsman Litton Das from the lineup for the final ODI against Sri Lanka. Due to his recent lackluster performance, the opening batsman has been dropped from the squad prior to the series decider scheduled for Monday, March 18th.

Das has been advised by the team management to participate in the Dhaka Premier League as he has been struggling with consistent failures, posing a significant concern for the Bangladesh team.

The ongoing ODI series has been particularly challenging for Litton Das, who recorded ducks in both matches, exhibiting a lack of confidence with the bat and hindering Bangladesh’s ability to establish strong starts.

His struggles extended to the T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he managed scores of 0, 36, and 7 across the three matches. Since the ICC World Cup 2023, Das has endured a rough patch with the bat, failing to produce significant runs.

Since the World Cup, Litton Das has accumulated just 313 runs in 14 ODIs at an average of 24.07. He has surpassed the 50-run mark only twice during this period, highlighting his prolonged batting woes. Das will now aim to regain form by accruing runs in the Dhaka Premier League.

Litton Das finds himself dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the first time since 2021, when he was excluded from the T20I series against Pakistan. Making a return this time will be a formidable challenge for him, given the intense competition within the team.

Jaker Ali has been named as the replacement for Litton Das in the Bangladesh squad for the third ODI against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh has opted to bring in keeper-batsman Jaker Ali for the final ODI against Sri Lanka, replacing Litton Das. Jaker Ali showcased his talent during the T20I series against Sri Lanka, notably scoring 68 runs in the initial match. Additionally, he boasts a respectable List A record, amassing 1918 runs in 84 matches.

Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the chairman of the Bangladesh selection panel, commented on the selection, highlighting that Jaker Ali’s inclusion will enhance the team’s middle-order stability.

“With the series now at a critical juncture, we are confident that Jaker Ali’s inclusion will offer the team greater versatility and choices in the middle order. Given Litton’s recent form in limited-overs cricket, we have made this decision, taking into account the presence of two other proficient openers in the squad.” # Litton Das Dropped

In the Bangladesh team, Anamul Haque and Tanzid Hasan serve as the two openers, with one of them likely to partner Soumya Sarkar at the top of the innings. Meanwhile, Jaker Ali is expected to slot into the middle order for the final match of the series.
