Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi, a relatively new face in international cricket, marked his T20I debut in 2022 and concluded his latest T20I appearance during the series against Afghanistan in Bengaluru. Although he has participated in just one ODI match so far, he has yet to make his Test cricket debut for India.
Lucknow Super Giants retained Ravi Bishnoi for IPL 2024, and he is gearing up for another season with the franchise. Initially playing two seasons for Punjab Kings, where he secured 24 wickets, Bishnoi’s last two seasons with Lucknow Super Giants have seen him amass 29 wickets, bringing his total to 53 wickets in 52 games.
Having debuted in T20Is in February 2022, Ravi Bishnoi has already featured in 24 T20Is for India. His consistent performances across various conditions position him as a likely pick for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean.
During a recent conversation with SpotsTak, the Ravi Bishnoi expressed his admiration for playing alongside cricket legends such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He emphasized that sharing the field with these iconic players, whom he had previously watched on television, is a truly remarkable experience for him.
“Being in the same dressing room as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is a significant milestone for me. These legends, whom I used to watch on TV, appreciating my performance and acknowledging that I bowled well is a moment of great importance and special significance,” shared Ravi Bishnoi.
In particular, Ravi Bishnoi highlighted his experience playing under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma throughout his relatively short international career. He emphasized how Rohit Sharma has consistently supported him.
“Rohit Sharma always supports players and provides complete freedom, offering the security that a player needs. He encourages you to play your natural game, assures you that he is there for you, and advises not to succumb to any pressure,” stated the leg-spinner.
Ravi Bishnoi has become India’s primary spinner in T20I cricket, effectively replacing Yuzvendra Chahal, who was the go-to spinner during Virat Kohli’s captaincy with Team India.
After India’s T20I series victory against Australia following the ODI World Cup, Ravi Bishnoi rose to the top of the ICC T20I rankings. Currently, he holds the fifth position in the T20I rankings.
“I made my debut on February 15, and the journey has had its share of ups and downs. However, the last 1-1.5 years have been positive since I had the opportunity to play some impactful games, participating in events like the Asian Games and Asia Cup as well,” reflected Ravi Bishnoi.
“I’ve been fortunate to receive opportunities, and when I get them, my aim is to perform well. This is the culmination of the efforts I’ve put in over the last five years. Since then, things have been positive, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the journey,” he added.
Ravi Bishnoi is set to make a comeback for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. Having been a part of the franchise for the past two seasons, he has established himself as a reliable bowler for KL Rahul, excelling in delivering effective performances during the middle overs.
