India’s T20 World Cup Squad announcement date – India’s cricket team aims to secure their first ICC trophy since 2013 at the eagerly awaited ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Taking place in the Caribbean and the United States in June, this 20-team competition spans from June 2 to 29. The participating teams are divided into four groups of five each. In the Super Eight stage, the top two teams from each group will move on to the semifinals. These semifinal matches are set to take place in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, June 26, and in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.
No team has announced its squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 so far and according to reports, the deadline for the same is May 1. According to a report in Sports Tak, the ICC has set May 1 as the deadline for the squad announcement. The teams, however, will be allowed to make changes to their squad till May 25.
Modifications to the squad post-May 25 must receive approval from the ICC Technical Committee. Additionally, teams can opt to engage in two warm-up matches based on their arrival at the World Cup, as mentioned in the report.
In the initial weeks of this month, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah officially announced that Rohit Sharma is slated to captain Team India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. # India’s T20 World Cup Squad
At the unveiling of the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Jay Shah expressed optimism, stating, “Despite losing the 2023 ODI World Cup final, we garnered immense support by triumphing in 10 consecutive matches. I am assured that, under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India will secure the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados,” said Jay Shah.
In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India is slotted into Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the co-hosts, USA. Commencing their journey on June 5, the Men in Blue will face Ireland first, followed by a clash with arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9. Subsequent matches are scheduled against the USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15.
