Bangladesh Slump to Second T20 Defeat – USA Clinch Series Victory – USA Vs Bangladesh

USA Vs Bangladesh – The United States cricket team secured a surprising series win against Bangladesh after defeating them by six runs in the second Twenty20 international match in Houston, Texas. This victory comes just days before the T20 World Cup kicks off.

Chasing a modest target of 145 runs, Bangladesh looked comfortable at 78-2 but suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their remaining eight wickets for just 60 runs.

Fast bowler Ali Khan, named man-of-the-match, played a crucial role for the USA, picking up three wickets for just 25 runs.

The series win is a significant boost for the USA going into the T20 World Cup, while Bangladesh will be looking to address their batting woes before the tournament begins.

USA Vs Bangladesh: Bangladesh Batting Collapse Costs Them the Match

Bangladesh’s chase started well with openers Najmul Hossain Shanto (36) and Shakib Al Hasan (30) providing a solid foundation. However, their hopes were dashed after Shanto’s dismissal in a mix-up with teammate Towhid Hridoy.

This triggered a rapid decline as Bangladesh lost wickets consistently. Experienced campaigners like Mahmudullah (3) and Shakib (30) also fell cheaply, leaving Bangladesh with a mountain to climb. Left-arm seamer Shadley van Schalkwyk was particularly destructive, picking up two crucial wickets. Bangladesh’s batting order, ranked significantly higher than the USA’s (9th vs 19th), ultimately failed to deliver, handing the series victory to the home team.

USA Set Modest Target

USA Vs Bangladesh – Earlier, the USA batted first and posted a score of 144 runs on the board. Monank Patel top-scored with 42 runs, while Steven Taylor (31) and Aaron Jones (35) provided valuable contributions. Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Rishad Hossain took two wickets each for Bangladesh, but their bowling efforts were ultimately overshadowed by the American bowlers’ brilliance in the second innings.

Looking Ahead

The final match of the series will be played in Houston on Saturday.

While the series win is already secured for the USA, both teams will be aiming to gain momentum and find their rhythm ahead of the T20 World Cup which starts on June 1st.
