Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s BCCI Contract – Twitter was abuzz with reactions when Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were dropped from the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) annual contract list released on Wednesday, February 28th. Despite being integral members of Team India across all three formats until last month, the duo’s absence from the list raised eyebrows.
Speculation had been circulating recently, indicating the BCCI’s discontent with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for their lack of participation in domestic cricket. According to reports, the governing body decided to exclude the pair from the Annual Player Contracts for Team India as a form of disciplinary action, making a bold statement.
Confirming the speculations, both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer did not secure contracts, signaling a potential exclusion from the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) plans. This development strongly suggests that the international careers of the two players are now in serious jeopardy.
Ishan Kishan withdrew from the Test series against South Africa and has remained inactive since. Despite being advised by the team management to participate in domestic cricket for Jharkhand, he opted out and was instead seen practicing separately with the Pandya brothers.
Shreyas Iyer, who featured in the first two Tests against England, was omitted from the team for the subsequent three games due to poor form. Although the BCCI urged him to play in domestic cricket, he cited back pain. However, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) contradicted this claim, stating that he is physically fit to play.
