Bhupendra Jaiswal, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s father, acknowledged Zubin Bharucha, the Performance Director of the Rajasthan Royals, for being instrumental in his son’s achievements. Bhupendra Jaiswal highlighted Bharucha’s hands-on approach to overseeing Yashasvi’s training, particularly emphasizing his role in preparing for the IPL.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has showcased outstanding batting performances during the ongoing five-match series against England. The left-handed batsman achieved two double-hundreds and a fifty in the initial three games, playing a pivotal role in India’s victories in the last two matches.

In the second Test held in Vizag, Jaiswal contributed significantly by scoring 209 runs after India faced a loss in the first match. Subsequently, in the third Test, he displayed remarkable consistency, tallying an unbeaten 214 runs. Currently, he stands as the highest run-scorer in the series, accumulating 545 runs in six innings with an impressive average of 109.

Speaking with India Today, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s father underscored Zubin Bharucha’s active role in his son’s training during the Indian Premier League. Bhupendra mentioned that Bharucha dedicatedly engaged in hands-on coaching, personally overseeing Yashasvi’s training sessions. Bharucha persisted in pushing Yashasvi to his limits, ensuring exhaustive training sessions. Jaiswal’s father attributed his son’s success to Bharucha’s efforts, expressing the family’s joy and celebration by distributing sweets.

Yashasvi Jaiswal gained prominence during the 2020 U-19 World Cup, where his exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Series award, amassing 400 runs at an average of 133.33. Securing a lucrative contract with the Rajasthan Royals for 2.40 crore in 2019, Jaiswal’s journey to the Indian team was propelled by his standout performance in the 2023 Indian Premier League season, where he scored an impressive 625 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 163.61. Making a memorable Test debut, he marked it with a century.

Reflecting on Jaiswal’s progression, Zubin Bharucha emphasized the transition from U-19 cricket to the IPL. Humbly acknowledging his role in Jaiswal’s development, Bharucha highlighted the collaborative effort of many individuals in shaping the young cricketer’s success.

“He came from U-19 India, but the IPL is a vastly different level. During the trial, I vividly remember him walking across the stumps and playing a flick behind the square on the first ball,” Bharucha stated.

He added, “There is a saying that it takes a village to make a champion. Many people have contributed to Yashasvi’s journey so far, and I happen to be one of them. He came from a place where he had very little.”
